The Part Most Contractors Rush
Waterproofing Is Why Bathrooms Fail — or Don't
South Florida's humidity means moisture that gets behind tile doesn't dry out. It stays wet, grows mold, and deteriorates the wall structure behind your beautiful new tile. The fix is a proper waterproofing system — installed before any tile goes in, not after.
We use Schluter Kerdi membrane, RedGard, or similar systems depending on the application. The waterproofing gets inspected before tile installation. This is not optional and it's not negotiable — it's the difference between a renovation that lasts and one that fails inside five years.

Our Process
From Consultation to Final Sign-Off
Six steps. We handle permits, waterproofing inspections, and tile installation in the right sequence — not the fastest one.
Consultation & Measurement
We visit your bathroom, assess the existing plumbing and electrical layout, and discuss what you want to change. You get a written scope and estimate before any decision.
Design & Material Selection
Tile, vanity, fixtures, shower configuration. We work with your selections or recommend based on durability and moisture resistance — which matters more in a South Florida bathroom than in most places.
Permit Application
Any project involving plumbing moves, electrical changes, or structural modifications requires a permit. We pull it. Miami-Dade: 3–6 weeks. Broward and Palm Beach: 1–3 weeks.
Demolition & Waterproofing
Existing fixtures, tile, and drywall removed. Cement board or Schluter waterproofing system installed and inspected before tile goes in. Skipping this step is the most common cause of bathroom failures in Florida.
Tile & Fixture Installation
Shower tile, floor tile, and all fixtures set. Waterproofing of joints and penetrations completed. No rushed grouting — tile gets proper cure time before load.
Vanity, Plumbing & Final Finishes
Vanity set and connected, mirrors and lighting installed, plumbing fixtures connected, final grout sealed. Punch list completed before we call it done.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Miami?
It depends on scope, tile selection, and whether plumbing or electrical work is involved. A cosmetic update — new vanity, fixtures, and paint — sits in a very different range than a full gut renovation with a custom walk-in shower. We provide a free, written estimate after visiting your bathroom. Call (786) 983-7928 to schedule.
Do I need a permit to renovate a bathroom in Florida?
If you're moving plumbing, relocating electrical, or making structural changes, yes — a permit is required. A like-for-like vanity swap or recaulk job typically doesn't. The moment you're changing where the shower drain sits, moving the toilet, or adding a circuit for a heated floor, you're in permit territory. We assess the scope and tell you exactly what's required.
What is the most expensive part of a bathroom remodel?
Labor — specifically tile work and plumbing. Custom tile installations, heated floors, and linear drains are time-intensive. In South Florida, labor costs are higher than national averages. Material choices like large-format tiles (which require more precise leveling) or book-matched stone also add significant time. We discuss trade-offs during the design consultation so you can decide what's worth it for your priorities.
How long does a bathroom remodel take in Miami?
A cosmetic update: 1–2 weeks. A mid-range renovation with some plumbing work: 3–5 weeks. A full gut renovation: 5–10 weeks from signed contract, including permit time. Miami-Dade permits add 3–6 weeks of lead time — we build this into the schedule upfront.
What's involved in converting a tub to a walk-in shower?
The tub and surround are removed, the plumbing drain is relocated for the new shower configuration, a new waterproof pan or linear drain system is installed, cement board or membrane goes in, then tile. It's a full plumbing and tile project — not a weekend job. A permit is required. Done correctly, it's one of the highest-value improvements for master bathrooms in South Florida, where tub usage rates are low and walk-in shower demand is high.
Why does waterproofing matter so much in South Florida bathrooms?
South Florida humidity means any moisture intrusion behind tile doesn't dry out the way it might in a drier climate — it stays wet, grows mold, and eventually causes structural damage to the wall cavity. Proper waterproofing (Schluter Kerdi system, RedGard, or similar) installed before tile goes in is what separates a bathroom that lasts 15 years from one that fails in 5. We don't skip this step and we don't let it get rushed.
Can you match existing tile if I'm doing a partial renovation?
Sometimes — if the tile is still in production or we can source a close match. More often, discontinued tile is impossible to match exactly. If you're doing a partial renovation and tile matching is a concern, we'll be direct with you about what's achievable before you commit. In many cases, a full tile replacement ends up being the cleaner solution.

We visit, measure, and assess the existing conditions. You get a written scope with a clear number — not a range that changes once the walls are open.
If your bathroom just needs recaulking and a new vanity, we'll tell you that. We're not in the business of talking people into projects they don't need.
